He attended Clarence High School in Clarence New York and was heavily involved in playing football during his school years. He has also said that he became a fan of literature during school. Murray clarified in a 2004 interview, that in his late teens, he broke his nose when he was jumped upon by three teenagers, that subsequently lead him to having a distinctive, almost trademark, kink in his nose.
