I wonder what Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks were thinking when they created the one and only Mickey Mouse. And boy! Did this cartoon spread like a wildfire among the crowd in New York, and then throughout the world. Cartoon characters, from the time they came into existence, have always been a hit with kids, and adults too. You may have adored some of them when you were a kid, and you may still do as an adult. If you ask me, I have been watching Superman right from my elementary grades. And even now, whenever it airs on television, I watch it like a 3 year old. Honestly, every cartoon character is famous in its own making, and unique in the role assigned to it. For instance, Mickey Mouse always portrays a character that is upstanding and moral. And speaking of our beloved Donal Duck, as always, he maintains his cantankerous character, and can't help getting into trouble. It is important to understand that a cartoon character that may not be able to amuse some people, can give others a gut cracking laughter. So, for me, "Laughter lies in the perception of the beholder..."
Greatest Cartoon Characters of All Time
As I love watching cartoons, and I love to write on them too, here is a list of my own favorites...
Superman - Up up and away!.. The man of steel sure got my adrenalin running whenever I watched him. Arguably, he was the most watched of all cartoon superheroes of all time. His blue suit with that great red clap, was complete "awesomeness"! Any one would like to be like Superman - the prince of the planet Krypton!
Johnny Bravo - Johnny is completely adorable, and I find him as the most charming of all cartoon characters. I call him "The Handsome without brains"! He is popular for his pompadour hairstyle, which he manages to keep straight with the help of the hair gel called "Mr. Kevin's Triple-Strength Hair Cement". Not to mention, people love his Elvis Presley-like voice too!
Tom and Jerry - Well what can I pen down to praise these two characters. The original series was honored with 7 Academy Awards. And that says it all about their popularity!
The Simpsons - Smart and intelligent comedy, complemented with some great animation, is what I would like to describe The Simpsons. And I would like to especially thank Homer for making us feel that it is alright being overweight and idiotic. Go Homer!
Uncle Scrooge and His Three Nephews - The thriller and adventure which these characters played in every episode, was far more involving than real movies. There was always something new in every episode, and I sure remember that I did not move even an inch from my couch while watching them.
Let's now get listing rest of the cartoon characters. The characters which I have briefed about in the above segment, may reappear in the list...
