The latest list of the richest people in the world has been released by Forbes magazine, popularly known as the Forbes Rich List 2011. Mexican Carlos Slim again tops the list just like he did in the Forbes Rich List 2010, only this time leaving all the others below him much farther behind in terms of wealth. American Bill Gates retained his number 2 spot, similar to his countryman Warren Buffet, who managed to hold on to his third place.

Before we get down to discussing the top 10 billionaires, here are some amazing statistics. This year, there are 200 more billionaires as compared to last year, total being 1,210. And there are a lot of rich people in America, especially the US, with the country having the highest number of billionaires in the list – 413. Asia has overtaken Europe with the number of billionaires it has, with both continents now boasting of 332 and 300 billionaires respectively. Not to forget Russia, whose capital Moscow holds the record for the city with the most billionaires – 79.
