The best anime for all you hardcore anime fans is listed here, with all you need to know on the top movies and series. Get wrapped up in a world of top-notch animation and check out what’s in store for anime fans…
Years ago, anime was something I hardly ever watched, but one day as I was flipping channels, I came across ‘Animax’. They were showing ‘Shoujo Jigoku – Girl from Hell’, and it caught my attention; slowly reeling me in to watch it everyday. From then on I’ve been an anime fan, delving into other series and eventually getting hooked. Anime is a more mature platform, where kids and adults can watch serious drama, comedy, horror and so on, on a more life-like setting. There’s a lot that goes into it, and fans worldwide feed off from an anime’s intensity, mystery and its ability to keep fans wanting more. The best anime movies will be discussed here, of the highest in ratings, along with the best anime series.
Top Anime Movies
The best anime movies are the kind that you just have to go back to and watch, like a good movie with an epic storyline. What I love about anime is everything is done with the same construction as that of a movie – dialog, screenplay, emotion, action, suspense and so on. So because an anime pays so much attention to detail, and relies heavily on graphic genius, it is much harder to put together than a film with a real cast on a set. I’m not surprised that fans are flocking to theaters to witness art in motion.
One Piece Film: Strong World
This is the 10th installment of a massive set of the one piece series, written by manga creator Eiichiro Oda, which started from a manga that was first drawn and created. It features a lot of mythology, musical themes and pirate affairs. Fans were given the Volume 0 of the manga version as a bonus gift to the first 1.5 million viewers at the theaters. It is said to have in it the plot of the movie. It released in December 2009, but is still going strong.
Detective Conan – The Lost Ship in the Sky
This is the 14th movie installment of the manga/anime series ‘Detective Conan’. It was released on 17th April, 2010. A DVD rental released on August 8th, featuring the movie along with a secret game inside.
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
This film released on 6th February, 2010 and is based on the fourth novel of the Haruhi Suzumiya series. The movie did so well, it earned 200 million yen in its first week in Japan.
Haibane Renmei
A movie that even today has fans raving about it; it was released on 10th September, 2002. It’s about a girl who is reborn into a creature (haibane) that is very angelical; she has no memory of who she was.
Spirited Away
It was directed by Hayao Miyazaki, and released on 21st July, 2001. The story involves a 10-year-old, who moves into a new town, where she experiences encounters with spirits and monsters. Walt Disney pictures later wanted to dub the English adaptation of the movie, but under the supervision of Pixar’s John Lasseter, who is known to be a huge Miyazaki fan.
There are a ton of movies that release every month, and people are trying to get their hands on them. These fast becoming classics are also available now in DVD sets and turning into collectors’ items. Trust me, don’t miss the opportunity to stock up on these movies for posterity.
