Kazuma Yagami, a.k.a. Kazuma Kannagi, is a scorned young man. In spite of hailing from a prestigious Kannagi family that is known for its proficiency at fire magic, Kazuma does not possess the expertise to wield flames as his family expects him. To exacerbate matters more, his 14-year-old cousin, Ayano makes mincemeat out of him in the successor ceremony to ply “Enraiha” (the sacred family sword). As a result of his ignominious defeat, he is shunned from his family.
Four years later, he returns back to Japan, however, with a new name and power. He is now a dab hand at “Fūjutsu”, a wind technique that allows him to manipulate the power of wind. One by one, members of the Kannagi family are rubbed off, which coincides with Kazuma’s arrival. The weapon of murder that is used to murder the Kannagi members is revealed to be Fūjutsu, thus putting Kazuma in the eye of suspicion. He is now forced to prove his innocence as well as protect his family, which he does with Ayano and Ren, his younger brother.
